Possible Worlds - an ongoing and growing project

Picture
Possible Worlds is a journey told through many stories and many voices.  Each voice developing their own archetypal character, an Aeon of the voice in the poem.  The Dynamic script of the show has allowed the show to retain its red thread of a narrative while constantly changing and evolving.  Every performance is different, but engaging you with the same overarching message
'We are all human beings navigating the maze of life'
In an entertaining, engaging and stimulating way the voices reveal the dead ends, pitfalls and garden paths of the maze and show you ways, how to find your way, to navigate the maze successfully.

The Possible Worlds project aims to express the words and voices through collaborating with a broad range of medium, allowing the poetry to express itself in a broad spectre.  Everything you see, hear and feel has been inspired by the words and guided by the writer.

The show uses music, dance, installation art, props/set design, lighting, interactive moving image (vj), audience interaction, improv and  multi voice performance collaborating with a range of artists.

So far the show has had a number of lives :
- Rethink Mental Health Awareness Event - Galatos - October  2011; Videos from the Public Competition and Pan Artform Show
- Splore Festival , February 2012 ; Interactive Video installation; The Time Machine, Maze Banner moving installation and performance
- Possible Worlds; the New Voices - Basement  , May 2012 ; Pan Artform show, with new voices woven in and using the Time Machine installed in the set where some performers interact with the visual backdrop of the show.

Rethink Possible Worlds with The Literatti

The story of the Maze of life is still unfolding & after sellout shows last year with the support of a 2011 Rethink Grant, The Literatti are now bringing back Possible Worlds for an encore performance.

But, don't think we're just doing the same thing again...

Introducing 'The New Worlds': four new emerging poets bring their voice and style to the show. These voices come from a broad range of backgrounds from Rising Voices and The Library Bar to South Auckland Poets Collective and the streets of Auckland.

And this time there is the visual spectacle of our newest innovation, The Time Machine - an interactive moving image installation piece that allows the performer to interact with the visual display created by Literatti for the Splore Festival.

Possible Worlds brings Emerging and established talents from five different creative fields together in a one hour collaborative display that is sure to leave even the most cynical amongst us uplifted.

The Literatti has been collaborating with dancers from Etched Dance Productions, and live musicians John McNabb and Paul Williams to create reTHiNK Possible Worlds, a multimedia theatre show that explores the function of madness as an attempt to live in and understand the world around us.

Dance, poetry, film, visual art and music are interwoven to tell the story of eight characters as they navigate their way out of madness and rethink their possible worlds.

The Literatti are the proud recipients of a reTHiNK Grant to use creativity to help reduce the stigma and discrimination associated with mental 'illness' in Auckland.

Emerging and established talents from five different creative fields come together in a one hour collaborative display that is sure to leave even the most cynical amongst us uplifted.

Members of the public were invited to create their own video responses to the theme "We are all human beings navigating the maze of life." The best submissions kick off the reTHiNK Possible Worlds shows at Galatos in Mental Health Awareness Week.

Since June, The Literatti has been collaborating with dancers from Etched Dance Productions, and live musicians John McNabb and Paul Williams to create reTHiNK Possible Worlds, a multimedia theatre show that explores the function of madness as an attempt to live in and understand the world around us.

Dance, poetry, film, visual art and music are interwoven to tell the story of eight characters as they navigate their way out of madness and rethink their possible worlds.
